Project log: Here
Now for something a little more abstract! alonso_bistro's new project caught our eye recently with this mini-ITX scratch build and its subtle but extremely effective use of lighting. Living up to the French tradition of avid wine drinkers (his words not ours), Spirale, or rather the core of Spirale, began it's life as a wine box. It's certainly an original start.
From here on in, things get even more original and interesting though with superb use of plexiglass which surrounds the wine box. The case took shape pretty quickly too so if you fancy heading over to alonso_bistro's
project log, make sure you start at page one.
The externals came along nicely with a large sweeping plexiglass enclosure not dissimilar to an exotic skyscraper. The wine box had also received some attention by this point with most of the hardware, including a Zotac ION mini-ITX motherboard and slot loading optical drive visible in some of the images.
At first we thought the logo was that of Nvidia, this having an Nvidia ION based motherboard. However alonso_bistro then mentions it's simply a catchy logo from one of his T-shirts.
The logo appears again, this time in green and even more Nvidia-like and is illumiunated too on the front of the case in more recent updates. There's something strangely appealing about this build.
